3/11.- The beach
Black Sea has no noticeable tides; the surf hits the
shore in the same spot all day long. The sea was warm,
pleasant and full of people. Most of the time it was calm
enough for our six year old and his rubber ring. Sections of
the beach are set aside for different water sports: jet skis,
para gliding, scuba diving and being towed at high speed
sitting on a giant banana to name a few. There are lifeguards
posted at regular intervals along the beach.
The beach is up to a hundred feet wide in places and is
filled with fine white sand. Static parasols can be hired by
the day for around 3 to 6 lev depending on which part of the
beach takes your fancy. Local traders walk the beach during
the day selling fruit and drinks, saving a trip to one of the
bars or fast food shops lining the beach. The sand becomes
very hot at mid day so remember to take your flip-flops to get
to the waters edge. There is a nudists beach in the north of
the resort for those wanting that all over tan, Topless sun
bathing is common in the rest of the resort.
Off the beach there are lots of restaurants, cafes, and
bars some with entertainment in the evening. Prices can vary,
but generally offer very good value for money.
Late in the season, around mid August, the weather can cool
off considerably. A holiday at this time of year might be
disappointing if you want to work on your tan. =>
