7/11.- Place Bellecour
Place Bellecour is a huge square covered with red gravel
surrounded by flower stalls and shops. This should be one of
your first stops when visiting Lyon. Do not miss the subway
entrance with its combination of modern design and Roman
vestiges. A big pavilion hosts Lyon's main tourist office, where
friendly staff will help you find accommodation. The Tourist
Bureau also gives information on tours of the city and give free
maps and tourist brochures.
In the middle of the square is the equestrian statue of Louis
XIV you see in the photo.
We will now leave the second district and visit the Part Dieu
quarter, on the other side of the Rohne river... =>
